Detective Officers Upgrade Investigation Status of Sutrimo’s Death Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Direktorat Reserse Kriminal Umum Polda Metro Jaya has elevated the handling of the case of the deceased individual with the initials S alias Sutrimo from the investigative stage to prosecution, and scheduled the exhumation action on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Direktur Reserse Kriminal Umum Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol. Iman Imanuddin stated that the case is being handled based on a combination of two police reports, namely one from the public to Bareskrim Polri and another from the victim’s family at Polresta Banyumas, Central Java, which has now been transferred to Polda Metro Jaya.
Prosecutorial Step in Unveiling the Truth
“Based on the investigation results from Polresta Banyumas and the Ditreskrimum team of Polda Metro Jaya, we have escalated the case to the prosecution stage,” said Iman when met at Polda Metro Jaya on Monday.
The exhumation action, or the disinterment of the grave, is part of the forensic medical investigation procedure to reveal the exact cause of the victim’s death. The examination results will serve as the basis for investigators to determine the next legal steps.
“Hopefully, from the exhumation results, we can find and conclude the cause of the deceased’s death,” said Iman.
Witness Statements and Forensic Scientific Evidence
Throughout the investigation process, the investigative team has obtained testimonies from 24 witnesses. Additionally, investigators are scheduled to gather further statements from the family members when visiting the location in Banyumas.
Iman emphasized that the investigative process focuses on seeking material evidence and legal facts in the field. The police ensure that the entire legal process proceeds fairly without discriminating against the victim’s background.
“The police report we received contains allegations of murder or premeditated murder. Subsequently, the investigators focus on the legal facts found during the investigative process,” said Iman.
Polda Metro Jaya had previously taken statements from five witnesses to investigate the cause of death of a man named Sutrimo, deemed unusual outside a clinic in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta.
Furthermore, Polda Metro Jaya, alongside Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan, also engaged the Police Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) of the Indonesian National Police to delve into the cause of the man’s death.
“We understand the concerns and questions that arise among the public. To ensure the cause of the passing of Mr. S, the police conducted a crime scene investigation involving Puslabfor and a series of other investigative actions,” stated Budi on July 29, 2026.
