President Prabowo Subianto has always maintained a strong connection with farmers, as stated by Dedek Prayudi, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO). This bond can be linked back to two significant moments in Prabowo’s life. Firstly, during his military service, where he received immense support from local communities and farmers. Secondly, when he led the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI). These remarks were made by Dedek, commonly known as Uki, during the grand corn harvest for the Food Security Program in Jenggalu Village, Bengkulu Province. The program is crucial, particularly in the current global climate that emphasizes Indonesia’s need to reduce its dependency on foreign food sources. Government assistance in the form of subsidized fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural equipment has enabled a successful corn harvest of 10 tons from 1.5 hectares. Uki emphasized the importance of utilizing these facilities efficiently to boost production capacity and motivate farmers. Kelik Budianan, Head of the Food Data and Information Center at the National Food Agency (Pusdatin Bapanas), expressed support for President Prabowo’s efforts, highlighting collaborations with the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) to purchase farmers’ corn harvests. The integration of supply chains between farmers and livestock breeders is also in progress to ensure favorable prices for both crops and livestock. This initiative was acknowledged by various local authorities and representatives, underscoring the commitment to enhancing food security and agricultural sustainability in the region.
