Several ministers in the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to tackle the issue surrounding PT Sritex employees who were recently laid off. The primary focus of the meeting was on Prabowo’s directive for ministers to find solutions for the affected workers. Present at the meeting were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

Prasetyo underscored the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the pressing need to address the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its declaration of bankruptcy in October 2024. The objective is to potentially rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new working arrangement in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli lauded the curator’s initiatives to expedite the rehiring process for former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.

Furthermore, Prabowo’s unwavering commitment to extend support and guidance is anticipated to alleviate the burden on PT Sritex employees affected by the recent layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively championing the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive appropriate layoff compensation and other entitlements. Concurrently, the PT Sritex Curator Team is in the process of identifying potential investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a revised scheme, which is poised to pave the way for the reemployment of the displaced workers. This strategic move aims to provide stability to the impacted employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
