Jakarta — Defense Minister of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, along with President Jokowi, attended the grand military parade of the Indonesian Navy in the waters of Jakarta Bay on Saturday (28/9).
They witnessed the parade of naval weapons systems, including the Sailing Pass of Indonesian warships and other military equipment on the KRI dr Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (RJW – 992).
According to the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral Muhammad Ali, a total of 55 large and small vessels were showcased during the Sailing Pass. Additionally, there was a Flying Pass featuring 25 aircraft from the Indonesian Navy.
“The event took place directly on the sea using domestically made military equipment,” said Muhammad Ali.
As the Sailing Pass passed by the KRI dr Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (RJW – 992), the troops could be seen waving towards Jokowi and Prabowo who were seated next to each other.
“They waved to Mr. President, expressing their gratitude,” said the Chief of Staff of the Navy.
The showcased KRI vessels included Multi Role Light Frigates (MLRF), PKR, SIGMA, the legendary sailing ship KRI Dewa Ruci, Combat Boats, and Landing Platform Dock (LPD) class vessels. The KRI Cakra 401 submarine of the Indonesian Navy was also displayed in front of the KRI dr Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992.
Among the aircraft showcased were Cassa NC-212, CN 235 MP, Piper Archer DX, Bonanza G36, Bell 505 Jet Ranger X helicopter, Panther AS565 MBe helicopter, King Air VIP plane, and Scaneagle UAV.
The Indonesian Coast Guard, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Customs, Maritime Security Agency, Maritime Security Board, Maritime Security Agency, and Indonesian Fisheries Vessels (KII) also participated in the Indonesian Navy parade. The Chief of Staff of the Navy stated that over 500 civilians were on board the KRI Banda Aceh and KRI Wahidin.
In addition to the parade, an award ceremony was held to present the Samkaryanugraha honor badge to the KRI-Nanggala 402 and to confer the Hiu Kencana insignia to President Jokowi.
The Hiu Kencana insignia of honor is a form of recognition and appreciation from the Indonesian Navy, particularly the Submarine Unit, and is only awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions within the Indonesian military.
Among those present at the event were Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of National Land Agency Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and Chief of National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
