President-elect Prabowo Subianto expressed his concern over the habit of Indonesians insulting each other, especially when it comes to leaders, without acknowledging their contributions.

During the closing of the 3rd Congress of the National Democrat Party (NasDem) at JCC, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 27, Prabowo stated, “I am saddened if we have a tradition of constantly belittling and insulting our leaders.”

He commended President Joko Widodo’s achievements, particularly noting Jokowi’s successful leadership in maintaining inflation at 2.5%, which has gained admiration internationally.

Prabowo also emphasized Indonesia’s swift recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic under Jokowi’s guidance, stressing that this was a significant achievement and not a stroke of luck.

He clarified, “I’m not here to defend anyone, but I will speak the truth regardless of who it benefits.”

Addressing NasDem members, Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the party’s support and hoped for continued unity in nation-building efforts.

He concluded by thanking NasDem for their cooperation, emphasizing their united stance and commitment to working together for the betterment of Indonesia.
