Jakarta: Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Dito Ariotedjo expressed his hopes regarding the new jersey of the Indonesian team designed by Didit Hediprasetyo. He hopes that this jersey can be a source of motivation and boost the confidence of the athletes who will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“The Red and White jersey that we will see today is a symbol of pride and fighting spirit of Team Indonesia. Thank you to Mas Didiet Hedi Prasetyo who designed this jersey. We hope that with this jersey, the spirit of the athletes will be ignited to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics,” said Minister Dito.
In his statement, Minister Dito emphasized that the 2024 Olympics in Paris is not just a sporting event, but also a stage that showcases aesthetic values through innovative designs. Paris, as the world’s fashion capital, is the perfect setting to introduce Indonesian designers’ works to the international stage.
“And indeed, in recent weeks where countries have revealed their jerseys and not playing around by using top designers. Fortunately, Indonesia has Mas Didit, whose name is very prominent internationally for designing apparel. And I agree that this will increase the confidence of the athletes to some extent,” he added.
So far, Team Indonesia has secured 49 tickets to participate in the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, a proud achievement. Minister Dito added, “This is an extraordinary achievement that we should be proud of. 29 athletes will compete in the Olympics.”
“The government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with all relevant parties, has prepared all the needs of the Paris Olympic athletes, which will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. We ensure that physical and mental training, as well as the necessary equipment, are available and optimal,” he said.
Meanwhile, Raja Sapta Oktohari, Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI), also expressed his joy in seeing the great enthusiasm from the Indonesian people, especially the positive response from social media.
“So, there are many designers, but only Didit dared to answer the challenge of the Indonesian NOC. Because as mentioned earlier, the challenge is that whoever designs it, like in other countries, many are bullied, etc., because of their designs,” said Raja Sapta Oktohari.
“But, Alhamdulillah, in this opportunity, I want to thank the Indonesian netizens because their response is very positive and it will show that we are a great nation that can appreciate the creativity and contribution of its people to Indonesia’s best sporting achievements,” he added.
