I am only concerned with the quality of their work.’ After that, my superior officer no longer raised the issue. It was a form of silent counsel because the issue regarding Pak H. R. Dharsono was still sensitive at that time. Pak Hartono Dharsono was a brave and outspoken person. He was popular with the people, students, and soldiers. He was instrumental in strengthening the unity between the TNI and the people. He was a hero of the people, especially the people of West Java and the youth grassroots movement of Jakarta. His concern for the people and his boldness in criticising his seniors and compatriots made him a beloved figure, even though he faced accusations and challenges during his career. The qualities of Pak Ton that I remember and admire are his courage to speak out and his dedication to democracy and the welfare of the people. He was not afraid to criticise those in power and stand up for what he believed in, even at personal risk. Pak Ton was a true patriot and leader who inspired others to follow in his footsteps.
