Kamboja – Defense Minister of Indonesia and President-elect for 2024-2029 Prabowo Subianto held meetings with President of Cambodia Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Cambodia on Friday (6/9/2024).
Meetings with the President of the Senate and PM of Cambodia were held separately. Prabowo’s visit to Cambodia followed his visit to Laos to meet the President and Prime Minister.
In the meeting with the President of the Senate of Cambodia, Prabowo expressed his utmost appreciation to Cambodia for their sustained commitment to strengthening defense cooperation with Indonesia.
“In the future, it is very important for both countries to actively seek and explore new opportunities for collaboration, to ensure that our partnership remains strong and responsive to the challenges and opportunities that arise,” said Prabowo.
Prior to meeting the President of the Senate, in the meeting with PM Hun Manet, Prabowo expressed his belief that Indonesia and Cambodia can work closely together to advance the prosperity and progress of both countries.
“By strengthening our collaboration, we can make a significant contribution to the well-being and development of ASEAN as a whole. I hope for our sustained partnership in achieving these common goals,” said the Defense Minister.
It is important to note that Indonesia, through the Ministry of Defense, recently donated weapons and ammunition to the Royal Cambodian Army Special Forces Command. The donation of weapons and ammunition was dispatched to Cambodia via a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from the 31st Air Squadron, Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on Thursday (29/8).
The donation includes 150 SS2-V5 A1 rifles, 20 G2 Elite pistols, 500,000 rounds of 5.56x45mm ammunition, and 500,000 rounds of 9x19mm ammunition. (RR)
