Menteri Pertahanan Prabowo Subianto recently uploaded a photo of himself shaking hands with Pope Francis at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (4/9).
In his post, the president-elect welcomed the honored guest to Indonesia.
“Accompanying President of Indonesia Jokowi in welcoming the arrival of Pope Francis, the Supreme Leader of the Catholic Church and the Head of State of the Vatican at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. Welcome to Indonesia, His Holiness Pope Francis. Indonesia is a country blessed with diversity and harmonious living. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” Prabowo wrote.
Before shaking hands with Pope Francis, President Joko Widodo introduced Prabowo as the 8th elected President of Indonesia.
In his speech, Pope Francis also extended his greetings to President-elect Prabowo Subianto.
“I extend a warm greeting to the president-elect for your service term,” Pope Francis said.
Furthermore, he expressed his admiration for Indonesia’s motto, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.
“Your country’s motto, unity in diversity, literally means different yet one at the same time,” he said.
It is known that Prabowo Subianto has prepared Maung as the vehicle for Pope Francis in the religious agenda at the Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan. (RR)
