The 79th Independence Day Ceremony at the State Palace in IKN, North Penajam Paser, captured a moment of warmth between Indonesian President Joko Widodo and President-elect for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto. They were seen sitting next to each other, with Prabowo on Jokowi’s right side, and the First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo on his left.

During the ceremony, Prabowo showed respect by waiting for Jokowi to sit down first before taking his seat. For the occasion, Prabowo wore a black Javanese traditional beskap outfit with an Udeng blangkon, while Jokowi was dressed in Kustin Kutai traditional attire. Their camaraderie and closeness were evident before the ceremony, with Prabowo greeting Jokowi with a namaste gesture.

This first Independence Day Ceremony of the 79th year was held at the State Palace in the new capital, with Jokowi and Prabowo in attendance. Meanwhile, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Vice President of Indonesia KH. Ma’ruf Amin and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka participated in the event.
