Doha, Qatar – Prabowo Subianto, the President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period, met with Qatar’s leader, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday (15/5).
“May Your Highness be in good health and prosperity, continue to succeed, and may Qatar continue to progress and prosper,” said Prabowo.
During the meeting, Prabowo was accompanied by Vice President-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The discussion focused on enhancing the relationship between the two countries in various fields, particularly defense.
The Emir of Qatar also expressed his hopes to Prabowo and Gibran for further development of bilateral relations.
Next, Prabowo and Gibran met with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
During the meeting, Prabowo and the Qatari PM also discussed developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
“Thank you for the warm welcome. May the relationship and friendship between Indonesia and Qatar always remain strong, for the good of both countries,” said Prabowo.
Also welcoming Prabowo and Gibran at the Amiri Diwan Palace were the Minister of Defense of Qatar, H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, the Head of the Amiri Diwan, H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
