Prabowo Subianto, a presidential candidate with number 2, is optimistic that the transition of government from Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the new government will run smoothly. This optimism is based on the experience and accommodating nature of the team he leads in the current presidential candidacy.

“I believe the transition will be very smooth, because as you know, from the three candidates (candidates), my team is very open that we are part of Jokowi’s team,” said Prabowo at the Mandiri Investment event in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/3).

Prabowo also admitted that he is a part of Jokowi’s team, who will continue Jokowi’s policies.

“My team is very bullish, we have many programs, and we have a lot of strength, our fundamentals are strong,” he said firmly.

In terms of the economy, Prabowo is also confident that under his government, Indonesia’s tax ratio will improve. He also aims for a government that is always efficient in budget management.

“The tax ratio can be much better, now Indonesia’s tax ratio is around 10%, and our neighbors Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia are around 16%-18%, there is still room for improvement,” he said.

Prabowo said that if neighboring countries can achieve a tax ratio of 16%, Indonesia can too. However, he emphasized that this does not necessarily mean raising taxes but rather expanding taxpayers or extensification.

“I think we can do that, from our current 10%, we can increase it to 16% like Thailand,” he explained.

Furthermore, Prabowo added that in order to improve the tax ratio, he even asked some economic players to recommend a name for the Director General of Taxation.

“Mr. Erick, Mr. Darmawan, Mr. Kartiko, Mr. Chatib, please give me a recommendation for who will be the Director General of Taxation,” Prabowo said jokingly. (SENOPATI)
